Vivienne Westwood 'Alice in wonderland'

Vivienne Westwood has done a collection inspired by 'Alice in wonderland' for her Fall 2011, i have selected some images from her collection and I'm going to compare them to the Tim Burton film 'Alice in wonderland' as this is were she go her inspiration, this is obvious as she released this collection in 2011 and the Tim Burton film came out in 2010.

This is a garment (shirt) from the collection i believe that it was influenced by the white rabbit as the frills on the side of her shirt are similar to the frilly scarf he has around his neck. Also the flowery bracelet things around her writs are like the end of his shirt sleeves that stick out at the end of his jacket.
i like this images as she looks smart and formal like the rabbit as he works for the queen, but also she looks very feminine as the frills give it a girly feel. This garment is similar to my work as i want my final garment to be smart but feminine. The way the model has her hair is like the rabbits ears as it sticks up at both sides, and she had a necklace type thing around her neck like the white rabbits chain for his stop watch. i think its important to think about the presentation as it plays a big part in your theme if your model dose not look the part then people will find it hard to see where your influence has come from.

This is a garment from the same collection i picked this one as i believe she was influenced by the mad hatter as she uses similar colours, the jacket is a patchy brown colour and the one that the mad hatter wears in 'Alice in wonderland' is a brown/green colour, there is also a orange colour inside the the hood which could represent the mad hatters hair. The dress the model wears in the picture has a floral like print like the one the mad hatter has on his hat. i like this image as it shows a clear link between the two images and i can see how she has been influenced, and the way she has presented the the model shows that she has put thought into it as the way the make up has been applied shows resemblance to the mad hatter with the pale face and and the orange for the hair.
