Their are many illustrations for Alice in wonderland and also one inspired by it, here i have selected a few illustrators that i like.
Salvador Dali, i love how abstract his work is and the blend of colours it makes it so dream like and surreal.
its amazing how he has entwined so many images into one picture you can see the outline of a mushroom with a line drawing of what to me looks like a tree and a butterfly. i can see Alice skipping onto of another mushroom. There is a rabbit and a grasshopper. to say there is so much going on in this image it don't look to busy.

Mervyn Peake, This is what you call perfection of a line drawing, its so simple but looks so elegant i love the traditional media used.
Frank Adams
Liza Ferneyhough
Greg Hidebrandt
Peter Weevers
Alison Jay, i love the birds eye view it makes the image look elongated, Alison Jay has used this to emphasize the size of Alice. Also i think she has done this to make us feel part of the illustration as Alice is looking down and we see exactly what she would. this is a really good thing to use as it helps pull the looker in to the illustration so the feel part of it.
Peter Weevers
Mabel Lucie Attwell
Maraja
Evgenia Gapchinska
Greg Hildebrandt
Lisbeth Zwerger
These
are illustrations done by John Tenniel, these are the original
illustrations for Alice In Wonderland 1865, i picked these as i think
its important to show how the illustrations have changed over the years,
and its a good way to show how people have interpreted Alice and show
her in there own way. i like Tenniel's drawings not only because they
are the original but because they are simple line drawing that look
very detailed because of the line quality i would like to interpret this
in my work as its a nice effect.
This is a illustration by Arthur Rackham 1907, i like how the media used makes the drawing looks so life like, its very traditional and historic but i think it looks very contemporary in parts like her as due to it looking so life like. the colours used to create this image fit with her feeling scared the dark background makes it look scary, i like how her knees are slightly bent to show she is bending down to get away from the cards. colour is important in illustrations as they can often set the scene.
Mabel Lucie Attwell, I like how her illustrations suit the children's story, some illustrations of alice in wonderland are very dark and are designed more towards young adults+ but Mabel Lucie Attwell's illustrations seem more bubbly and cute, this image has a circular feel to it and when i look at it it reminds me of childhood illustrations. i love the use of watercolour it gives a really nice affect as they are in water it make it more relaxed to look at.
